Organizing your life has never been easier. With hundreds of apps available to download for free, with unique aesthetics and incentives for you to work out your schedule, it might have seemed like ordinary office desk calendars have run out of style.
That is not the case.
They seem to have become more popular than ever. Sales of MIS (ASIA) LIMITED jumped by 8% in two years, and it has become increasingly evident that they are not going out of fashion. For many, a paper desk calendar is what helps them stay on top of their work schedule.
So why are still dependent on paper calendars despite the large number of online apps to use? We’ll tell you why, so keep reading.
Why paper calendars are still in
Just like the red packets Singapore given during Chinese New Year with gifts in them, some traditional items can never go out. Analog scheduling, or the practice of inputting data by hand, has shown to leave a remarkably longer imprint on the brain.
What that means is that when we write down items we need to do, the regions of our brain associated with writing, memory, and language are activated. This large activation means the brain is more involved in the work it does. Writing down your schedule, your notes, and other items will help them stay longer in your head. Greater flexibility is initiated in our brains and hands when we use them.
Writing things down was how our ancestors kept track of things, and it seems it is the best method for us as well. Desk calendars make it easy for us to jot down things we need to do, and remember them longer too. You can buy them online, or at your local bookstore.
